Gas Detection ‘Not To Be Sniffed At’ Say The Experts

When running a business, gas exposure is not something to be sniffed at. At the lower end of the scale you could suffer with headaches, dizziness and nausea, those who ignore the signs and put workers at risk could face a civil law suit or even worst the guilt of causing death by neglect. As the experts in health and safety equipment, Total Protection UK outline, it is better to be safe than sorry.

Sales and marketing director at Total Protection UK, Mark Haylett said, “There has never been a better time to invest in gas detection equipment, and at Total Protection we realise how important this is, hence why we are proud to introduce the ALTAIR 4 from the MSA Safety company as the latest addition to our health and safety equipment line.”

gas detection is necessary in whatever industry you are in and extremely important to prevent exposure to gas and thus reducing the likelihood of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning or fire and explosion.

The new ALTAIR 4 gas monitor is one of the most rugged 4 gas detectors available. Not only is it extremely easy-to-use it also measures O2, H2S, CO and combustible gas simultaneously, for easy use and peice of mind.

Mr Haylett added, “The ALTAIR 4 is unique in that it offers the customer with MotionAlert, which is revolutionary in the world of portable gas detection and is available as an option on the ALTAIR 4.When enabled, this man-down alarm with motion detector alerts anyone in the vicinity if the user is in distress with a high visibility LEDs and a piercing audible alarm. This gas monitor really is cutting edge and something that we are proud to be able to offer our customers with.”

The user can also alert anyone nearby with a three-second button press, activating the InstantAlert alarm. The ALTAIR 4 comes with a high performance triple alarm system, 24-hour bump test checkmark and comprehensive data-logging facility as standard, making it a highly desirable piece of health and safety equipment to have in any industry.

And what’s more, whether you work in the oil & gas industry, with chemicals, steel & iron, utilities, Fire Service, waste water, civil engineering or the contracting sector, the versatile ALTAIR 4 gas monitor can be configured for each of these individual requirements.

Simple testing of the detector’s alarms along with the testing of the monitors response to a known gas concentration, can be carried out by the QuickCheck test station.

All of the ALTAIR 4’s features provide the user with added confidence in their gas detection purchase, more so than ever before.

My Haylett added, “We invite customers to contact us with any information they require on the ALTAIR 4 and we are so pleased to be one of the leading UK suppliers of this revolutionary gas monitor.”

TOTAL PROTECTION LAUNCH NEW NOISE DETECTION MONITORS WITH GREAT ANTICIPATION!

Total Protection UK, experts in the supply of safety equipment and services, are proud to launch their brand new range of pulsar sound level meters and Dosemeters, adding another string to their safety bow!

Sales and marketing director at Total Protection UK, Mark Haylett said, “We are very pleased to be expanding our product range again. This new range of sound level meters and Dosemeters are our first step into noise detection equipment and we hope that we will continue to attract the huge demand we have already experienced.”

Under the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005, requires that employers must provide adequate hearing protection and hearing protection zones for exposure to noise that is over the 85-decibel limit. With the legislation requiring that all employers carry out a risk assessment on the health of their workers when they are exposed to anything over 80 decibels.

Noise monitoring tools, like the Pulsar range are therefore a vital piece of safety equipment, as they not only protect your workers from tinnitus and other disorders but also from short and long-term deafness.

Mr Haylett added, “Employees have a duty under the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 to not only provide their employees with information, instruction and training, but to also make sure that the legal limits on noise exposure are not exceeded. There is no better way than to invest in noise monitoring equipment, let’s face it, premature deafness shouldn’t be something you should cut corners with.”

One of the main solutions to exceeding this limit, could well be the new Accessor Range of integrating sound level meters, as they are not only cost effective but one of the most simple to use compliant instruments of their kind.

Ideal for accurate measurements of IEC61672-1:2002, and pre-programmed for industrial and occupational noise, these meters display the vital readings on screen to ensure compliance with the new legislation.

Mr Haylett added, “For companies who already have access to Pulsar Analyser software, the great news is that the Accessor Range of noise monitoring equipment is compatible with this software. Since we launched this range it has been a huge success and with a reputable brand like Pulsar, it really is no big surprise!”

Other additions to the new noise detection line at Total Protection include the Pulsar noise level monitor model 33. This is a user-friendly monitor and ideal for environmental, engineering and industrial noise applications. Labelled as the ideal solution for the more discerning user.
For those who do not want to pay extra for an instrument with 1:1 Octave band filters, the Pulsar model 82CA monitor is the ideal companion.

Mr Haylett added, “Here at Total Protection, we love to help our customers to find solutions that best suit their individual needs. We advise people to give us a call with any questions that they may have and we will be happy to help. With so many noise level meters on the market, it can be very difficult to distinguish between the many different types. It is always best to consult a professional when making such important decisions, especially when it affects the health and well-being of your employees.”

Confined space ventilation is an integral component of any confined space entry program. Continuously moving, fresh, uncontaminated air through a confined space is the most effective means of controlling an atmosphere hazard. Ventilation dilutes and displaces air contaminants, assures that adequate oxygen supply is maintained during entry and exhausts any contaminants produced by entry activities. At Total Protection we offer a selection of air moving equipment suitable for all environments, all with various capabilities to ensure you have the right equipment with enough capacity to suit your needs.
